To talk about us, we can start with a singular story of revelation. Most organizations like Operation Lola are born from a moment when there is no choice but to act.

Here is Lola's story.

Amelia, our Shitzu, died so fast. The unexpected death brought on an ambush of grief and loss. Leonor Ramirez went through the pain. It was physical and emotional. A pet's love consumes us, so their absence coats us like paint. We wear it wherever we go.

Leonor looked for answers. Perhaps another type of pet? A note on Craigslist caught her eye: an ad for a tiny little female piglet weighing just one pound. Her picture was adorable, posed on a bed with a big red bow. "For sale: either food or as a pet".

When words burn in your eyes, something changes in your heart. Leonor didn’t know much about pigs but she knew she wanted to adopt this adorable little piglet as her precious pet.

Leonor was told that the little piglet was a micro mini pig and would only grow to be 45 lbs. Five years later, that adorable little piglet who Leonor named Lola now weighs close to 300 pounds and is smart as whip! She's adorable, talkative and playful. She adores Leonor! Lola experiences a range of emotions - just like all of us! Emotions like happiness, sadness, grief, and pain.

Lola is family now and she has learned how to effectively communicate her needs, whether food, companionship, belly rubs, playtime....Lola has been a gift and a joy to share life with. Pigs are the 4th smartest animal on the planet - they feel, they know, they see, they sense. There is so much to learn from Lola and animals alike. Lola has a great life and we want other pigs like Lola to find happiness and forever families. Lola opened our eyes, and we are on a mission, with your help to make a difference through rescue and re-homing. (Pictured below, Leonor and Lola)

What Usually Happen's To 300 lb Pigs?

Pot-bellied pigs are being marketed as mini-pigs, nano-pigs, teacup pigs and a dozen other names, and then abandoned because there is no such thing as a teacup pig.  The size range of a pot-bellied pig can range from anywhere between 40 and 300 lbs.  Sadly, many dishonest breeders out there are advocating abuse by recommending diets that keep these animals malnourished in order to keep their weight and growth stunted. Pot bellied pigs are able to reproduce as early as 3 months into their lives, and it takes up to six years to reach full size. Deceptive breeders make matters even worse by breeding them early in their lives when they are still small and allowing people to believe that the parent pig is an indicator of the size the baby pig will become.

We could never accomplish happy endings without the beautiful relationships we rescuers share - we are here for one another and for the abused, neglected and forgotten piggies, goats and animals everywhere.
